A few feature requests (or missed features on my part)

Postby steveinNH on Tue May 11, 2010 1:25 pm

Chaining: the ability of Super-flexible to move from a completed sync to the next automatically. This would speed up our process by linking the end of one synchronization to the next.

Sorting: Would love to click on headers and be able to sort by next run… last result…

Reports: Also would love to be able to printout a report that shows Start, duration and end of mirror job. Or be able to create custom reports.

Hello,

thanks for your ideas!

In the new preview version 5.00, you can now chain profiles by typing
RUN PROFILE Profile Name
into the dialog box Job->Execute before/after...

It should be used as an "after" command, not as "before".

Thank you - can I safely upgrade to the beta for mission critical use? I see that the version we have does have the execute command in the program will it work if I use the command - RUN PROFILE as noted? Great Program!

Version 4.x does not have the RUN PROFILE capability. You could use a full command line instead such as:
C:\Program Files\SuperFlexible\ExtremeSyncService.exe /RUNX="Profile Name" /S /M /T /P

SMTP means silent, minimized, in threads, and as a parallel job that sends progress info to the main app.

In my opinion version 5 is pretty stable. It most likely won't delete or corrupt any data, but it could occasionally error and stop working. I want to have it feature complete by June 1st and fully release it on July 1st.

Can I find some help on the options /S /T /P somewhere?
I can only find /M in the online help.

SMTP means silent, minimized, in threads, and as a parallel job that sends progress info to the main app.

Otherwise these are undocumented because normally only used internally.

Wow - I have spent the last few weeks using the new version and have been able to link the end of one sync to another - this works perfectly and has dramatically reduced the overall sync's across the board! Works great. One thing I have found is that if the scheduler is running when you schedule a 'chain' the software seems to lock up - if the scheduler is not running the save seems to work as expected - think I have about 10 chains linked together.

Sometimes, when the process is done, I will see that one part of the chain did not complete successfully. I find no way to run just the sync that had not completed sucessfuly without the rest of the chains running - but I can live with that.

Thanks again

Hello,

I will look into these issues.

Please keep your chains as short as possible. You should chain only jobs that really depend on each other.

Unrelated jobs that you just want to run one after another can be easily started from the Profile Overview. Just place checkmarks and right-click and choose "Run Checked Profiles In Unattended Mode". The checkmarks will still be there even if you quit the program and open it again.
