Copy/synch through and intermediate media

Postby Giuse on Sun Mar 20, 2011 2:01 pm

Hi, I have a situation where I need to synchronize two PCs that are not connected each other so I need to use an intermediate media, like a pen drive.
The idea is that changes in the source are stored into the pendrive, then pendrive plugged into destination where the image of the source is recreated.
I am trying to do that with SuperFlexible (in the past I used SmartSynch that had a similar option) but I didnt find so far how: I could copy just the new files using the archive flag, but what about the deleted ones?
Thanks for the support.

Hello,

you can synchronize Deletions with SmartTracking. However this requires that a complete copy of all files is on the pen drive. See also our FAQ "How can I synchronize file deletions?" on
http://www.superflexible.com/docs.htm
.

It does not really matter if you are syncing two PCs via pen drive or directly. Every sync is a sync of two pairs of storage. SmartTracking can detect the deletions when syncing both ways. Exact Mirror would be used for one-way syncs with deletions.

Hi, my question was actually on how to synchronize via an intermediate media like a pendrive where typically it is impossible to store all files of a full HD backup).
I was mentioning SmartSync Pro (another sync/backup software) since it can do it: it stores just the new files and the list of deleted ones into a zip that can be transferred to the destination PC where it is used by the software to synchronize the destination. I think it could be a wonderful addition to SuperFlexible features, since SF in general has a lot more features than SmartSync Pro.
What do you think?
cheers

Yes it might be nice but there is very little demand for this feature.
