Deleting from cloud

Postby lathrum on Sun Apr 16, 2017 9:57 pm

I have set it up so that folders and files are encrypted on the Amazon cloud drive side. Recently, I found that two of the same directory exists (one with an upper case first letter) on the cloud side that is causing the error "Duplicate Folder Name, please resolve manually."

So, I want to delete that duplicate folder on the Cloud side, but everything is encrypted and I have no idea which one to delete. Now, I eventually found a log file that mentioned the right folder for me to find in Amazon Cloud Drive. However, that took a while.

In a profile, under Choose Folders and Files, it shows the cloud side on the right with the unencrypted names. Is there an ability to delete folders and files directly from that right side since everything is unencrypted and you can actually see all the file names?

Hello,
there's no way to delete such a folder from within Syncovery, but you can get a detailed folder and file listing including both encrypted and clear text names. To obtain this, please go to the Logs tab sheet of the Program Settings dialog and choose "Output left/right file listings". This will produce HTML listings in your Logs folder. Turn the option off again to avoid filling your hard drive with these listings, over time.

Cool, I'll try that. Perhaps my suggestion would be a cool addition at some point. I think it would be worthwhile to see and modify a live listing of left/right when encryption is involved.

The newest Syncovery version should ask you if you want to merge duplicate folders when you run a job in attended mode.

Thanks for the reply. Are there release notes for the new version? I can't find them.

Ok that is if we run into suplicate folders. What about an option about deleteing from backup if we don't need the files anymore, given that filenames are encrypted, an option to delete folders from clound. Somthing like restore wizard but for deleting. I hope you understand what I want/need.

Thanks
