How to re-run to fix sync errors?

Postby wwcanoer on Sun Nov 14, 2010 9:37 am

Sometimes there are errors reported after sync. How can I re-run only the files that had errors?

This time I have the error "ERROR Differing files (not identical): 3"

But then the log file starts with:
ERROR: Binary Comparison failed for ___.xls
ERROR: Binary Comparison failed for ___.xls
ERROR: Binary Comparison failed for ___.xls
ERROR: Binary Comparison failed for ___.xls
ERROR: Binary Comparison failed for ___.xls
ERROR: Binary Comparison failed for ___.xls
ERROR: Binary Comparison failed for ___.xls
ERROR: Binary Comparison failed for ___.xls
ERROR: Binary Comparison failed for ___.xls
CONFLICT: ___.png (One side is a folder, the other one is a file.)
CONFLICT: ___.png (One side is a folder, the other one is a file.)

The log file is truncated "** too many files, rest is being skipped **" so I don't even know which three files did not compare correctly.

I am syncing 45GB to my backup USB drive with "binary compare" before cleaning up files on my main drive. I can't start deleting files until I know that I have them backed up. To repeat the entire process again takes a long time. I would like to only find and re-run the few problem files and not compare all 45GB again.

Thanks,

~Brian

"Too many files, rest is being skipped" can occur at the end of the list of files which do not exist on one side but do exist on the other. Usually this occurs due to exclusions or filters. See also the Global Exclusions on the Program Settings dialog (last tab sheet).

The three files which are still different are shown above the list with "too many files". You will see the heading "DIFFERING FILES" and below that, you will find the three files.

These differing files could simply be files that were changed on the source side while the copying took place.

Concerning "One side is a folder, the other one is a file", you need to resolve this conflict manually with Windows Explorer.
