Moving to new server

Postby kiddailey on Tue Oct 19, 2010 5:53 pm

I've been running SFFS on a staging server for testing over a few months now and now I'd like to move the install to a production machine along with all of the defined profiles/databases/caches/etc. The software will no longer be on the old computer.

I'm hoping that this is possible without too much trouble, but thought I would ask here to see if anyone had any insight to the process:

* Is this even possible, or will I need to install and setup everything from scratch?
* Will I need to "deactivate" the software on the old computer before installing it on the new server?

Thanks for your help.

It should be quite easy. Use the Setup file to install the latest version on the new server. In the program, go to the Program Settings dialog to see where the INI file is stored and where the database folder is. Then close the program and copy these files from the other server.

I finally got around to doing this and just wanted to say thank you.

The only addition to your instructions that I had to do was (obviously) adjust some paths in my schedules since they had changed with the move. This caused the software to prompt me about the database pathing mismatch, so I just chose to delete and rebuild them to hopefully avoid any issues.

In any case, it seems to have worked fine and now I can retire the old server, yay!
