SSL/TLS not Compiled

When I try to set up email to send myself summaries in the "Notify" tab in preferences, I continually get a note that says "Email could not be sent/ SSL/TLS support is not compiled".

Hello,

please click on the "Email Settings" button and make sure that one recipient is specified on the first tab sheet and that all fields are filled correctly on the second. Then use the "Send Test Email" button to check your settings. Make sure you have the latest version 5.21c. If you use Gmail, please click the "Use GMail" button rather than specifying the server details yourself.

1. A recipient is specified.
2. Latest version 5.21c is installed
3. I am using gmail and I have not adjusted the settings.

I have a Mac Pro, with 10.7 OS, and I am getting this same error. Was there a fix. I want to use GMAIL and there is a nice little button for that, but GMAIL requires SSL and I get this error that it is not compiled.

Please let me know.
