Login on Google docs

Postby Rene on Tue Jan 11, 2011 3:07 pm

Hi,

I have downloaded SFFS to synchronize local files with google docs account. I have a google apps account, which include google docs. SFFS is unable to log in the google docs account. I am sure of the id and password (which allow me to log in on the web), and I always get an error "password error".
I have open an acccount on Amazon S3, and tried to backup my local files to my bucket. Same things, SFFS is unable to login on Amazon S3 account. After a while, I get a message error "socket error 47"
I am running on Mac OS 10.5, and the last version of SFFS (5.21c). I have tried from work, with a fixed IP configuration and a router, and at home, with a DHCP configuration. The behavior is strictly the same...
In the log file there is written "FTP Exception (3): EAmazonS3Exception SOCKET ERROR 47 @ 008F634F"
I have been able to access the Amazon S3 account using another client (S3Hub)

Any idea of the problem ?
thanks !

Usually this means that your computer's clock or time zone is not set correctly. For more details, you can turn on Internet Protocol Logging on the program's Preferences dialog and send the log files to support@superflexible.com for interpretation. These logs are named ftplog*.txt and they are in the normal logs folder. You can get to it by clicking on the Gears toolbar symbol on the Profile Overview.

Thanks a lot for your answer.
I have tried to log in again, in order to have a log file to send, and now it seems to be working, both on Google and on Amazon... Very strange !
I cannot do the backup, as being at home I do not have access to the shared disk I want to backup, but I will try tomorrow and see if it works correctly.
Regards,

Maybe in the meantime, the time was synchronized (Mac OS does this regularly by default).

Hello,

This looks strange, to night it doesn't work again!
And during the day, it has been working, but I have been able to transfer only the folders, not the files. The folder have been created on my google docs account, but none of the file has been transfered !
This sounds mysterious to me...

You need to look in the log files.

Hello,
it appears that this upload was not attempted with a payed Google Apps Premier account. Apparently it was a free Google account.

Unfortunately, at this time, only Google Apps Premier customers can upload "any file" to Google via the API employed by our software. With a non-Google Apps account, you can upload text files, spreadsheets, presentations if you let them convert to native Google Docs files.

I expect that eventually Google will include customers who are paying for storage in the full API usage but they haven't done it yet. I know that at least one Google employee is interested in making it work but
I don't know exactly how to promote the request efficiently. There are forums and wishlists on the Google site etc., maybe you can do something there.

Kind Regards,
Tobias Giesen
