Non-latin chars in filename

Hello. First of all, I am Russian and my english is bad, sorry.

I have a problem with russian filenames.

I use SFFS to sync folders on computer with my server via FTP. There is Ubuntu 9.10 on server-side with VSFTPD. And I already have two folders on server, which names look normally in CuteFTP client:

But when I try to list this folders in SFFS I see unreadable filenames:

I tried to enter foldername right in "Folder:" field, but SFFS creates on server new folder with wrong-encoded name:

I also tried both with- and without "Unicode filenames" option, but still have the same problem.

Can anyone help me?

The problem is that the FTP server says it supports Unicode (UTF-8), and Superflexible assumes that UTF-8 is really used. But the filenames on the server are not UTF-8 encoded. You can probably work with this system with Superflexible 4.97, which does not enforce UTF-8 if the server claims that it supports it. Please let me know if that works. I may be going to make it optional in version 5 too (there is an option already, like you mentioned, but it is ignored if the FTP server says it supports UTF-8).

In the new version 5.40, you can now choose "Windows ANSI" to prevent the program from automatically choosing UTF-8. This "character set" option is on the second tab sheet of the Internet/FTP dialog.

Windows ANSI will cause the default encoding for the country to be used. In some regions, it can be a multibyte character set and not actually ANSI.
