Hello,
here's to version 4.89!
The latest new version is again full of improvements. For a while now, I have been working on version 5 and only making very important changes and additions to version 4. So, with version 4.89 we have reached the maximum of stability and reliability, while new features are added in version 5.
On Thursday (tomorrow), the Mac version, Professional Edition, can be ordered at half price on the Mac Update Promo web site. We need your help! Many of those watching the Promos don't know the program and are unable to appreciate how useful and powerful it can be. Thus we need some people that know better to post some positive comments. Please visit http://www.mupromo.com on Thursday, midnight to midnight Chicago time, and help us!
One of the latest improvements in version 4 is the Daily Summary email notification. This feature sends out an email once per day and lists the jobs that have run during the past 24 hours. It shows the number of successful jobs and those that had errors. If you have to monitor a lot of jobs, you will be able to see quickly if the correct number of jobs ran fine or not.
More news: the ExtremeSync Remote Service App is finally available for Macintosh. It is a separate download on our download page. There are three use cases for the Remote Service:
- Unzip incoming ZIP packages
- Generate a Remote Listing
- Generate MD5 Checksums for Partial File Updating
One of our customers, who copies huge amounts of data over a fast Internet link between two offices, has been able to speed up building the file listing from 2.5 hours down to just 5 minutes with this technology.
There is some documentation on the Remote Service for Windows here:

Version 5 will add Differential Versioning Backup, which allows you to combine Partial File Updating with Versioning and Zip compression, and use any kind of storage and Internet Protocol with it. It also uses a new, highly reliable database engine, and adds support for Google Docs. You can see all the details on our version history page:

Version 5 is currently available as a preview version for Windows only, but the Macintosh version will be released a few weeks after the Windows one. I want to do some great Mac-specific work after finishing the common features.
Again, thanks for listening!
