WebDAV using HTTPS and certificates

Postby TSI_Admin on Wed May 11, 2011 9:00 am

Hi, we are using Windows 2008 R2/IIS 7.5 WebDAV with basic authentication and certificate based SSL. Only HTTPS port 443 is allowed.

Accessing the WebDAV folder from a Windows 2003 R2 server from a different, external domain using Internet Explorer 8 and explorer works as expected. The user has to use HTTPS and has to provide a valid certificate, which is stored in his personal certificate store, and a valid username/password. The firewall has ports 80 and 443 open to allow WebDAV traffic.

Connecting to this WebDAV folder using SFFS 5.45a using the same information as above, does not work. We use these settings on the Internet tab:
Protocol: WebDAV
URL: https://webDAVserver/folder
Library: 2 (SBB SSL)
Authentication: BASIC (tried the others as well)

On the IIS log, we can see, that no user information arrive on the server, in contrast to connection made by IE8 or the explorer.
Any idea on that?

Hi,

I don't know if client certificates are implemented for WebDAV. If so, they might work with WebDAV library 1 only.

I tried that already.
My hope was, that the SFFS client WebDAV libraries are using the certificates which are installed in the users and the machines peronal certificate store. The integrated certificate management is obviously only utilzed for SSH/SFTP, which is no option for us.

No, the certificate store is not used.
