delete older files during backup

Postby astro46 on Tue Jun 07, 2011 5:21 pm

i am using sffs as a backup program. i am copying, zipped, a .pst file. i don't want to keep previous .pst files on the destination media. ie: delete existing backup and copy the new one. i can't make this happen.
i have it set to keep 0 older copies. still when i do a back up a second time i have 2 copies of the .pst.

what settings do i need to only have one copy of .pst on destination.

Hello,

maybe you have chosen Synthetic Backup (i.e. Partial File Updating and Zipping)? In that case, all copies must be kept because every day, only the few changed blocks are backed up.

Normally, only the latest version is kept at the destination. Make sure you don't have "Keep multiple versions" checked on the Versioning tab sheet. If problems remain, try creating a new profile and, starting with the default settings, only choose "Zip Each File Individually" and nothing else (at first). You can also click the Defaults button and then choose the zipping checkmark. If problems remain, please export your profile and send it to info@superflexible.com and I'll have a look. Or post it here. You can export profiles by right-clicking them in the Profile Overview (in Advanced Mode).

clicking "default", and then adding the zip and encryption seemed to fix the problem . thanks.
