Uploading files to Google Docs fails

Postby Alexander on Fri Nov 04, 2011 2:51 am

Hello!

I'm evaluating SFFS as a possible universal backup solution. In addition to local backup, I want it to backup certain folders to Google Docs account (I have a paid account with 80 Gb storage). AFAIK Google Docs supports storing files of any type, not only those editable/viewable in Google apps.

However, when I place files not supported by Google apps (e.g. a ZIP archive or EXE) in the source folder, they do not get copied to Google Docs. Log files contain the following errors:
Error uploading to Google storage (403): Files must be uploaded using the resumable upload mechanism. at 00CF087D.Checkpoints: SPCSX/DCopy05t

Thanks in advance for any help with this problem. it is vital for me in making a decision whether to buy SFFS or not.

Hello,

Google Docs have changed their mechanisms in a way that is incompatible with existing applications.

The new mechanism has been implemented in version 6 of our software, which is currently available as a beta release from http://www.superflexible.com/downloadmore.htm.

Thanks for clarification. I'll give beta version a try.

Installed beta - everything works like a charm now! Thanks again.

P.S. I think Google Docs + SFFS may become a perfect Dropbox replacement. Far less expensive (e.g. for 100$/yr you get 400 Gb from Google & only 50 Gb from Dropbox). More storage available (up to 16 TB vs. only 100 Gb in Dropbox). And far more flexible thanks to SFFS!
