Syncing two computers different OS

Postby trial on Fri Jan 27, 2012 5:11 am

Hi,
Quite interesting software you have there, unfortunately your manual not clear on creating the following scenario.
My case will be similar to https://www.backupcreations.com/forum/post2312.html

But mine involve 3 OS with 3 different computers:
1.File Repository / Host (desktop PC located at home):
- OS: Windows XP SP3
- Super Flexible v. 5.6.4

2. Guest 01 (laptop):
- OS: Windows 7x32
- Super Flexible v. 5.6.4

3. Guest 02 (laptop):
- OS: Mac OSX 10.7.2
- Super Flexible v. 5.6.3 build 292

I would like to sync the file across each other. Whenever Guest 01/02 (work and personal laptop) made some changes; I want both of them sync to Host every time I get home.

So the sync will look like this:
2 <=> 1 <=> 3

Things I found when running your software in different OS:
- "Real Time Synchronization" in MAC seems has no "Process deletion when running in real-time" option, is this because O/S restriction?
- "Real time sync" does not read the changes in the Host (ie PC#01), only read changes in the guest computers, is this normal?

For now, to get the result I want, I need to:
- run schedule (which runs the sync minimum of 5 minutes) instead of "real time sync"

Thanks!

Yes and no. On Mac, the program receives change notifications about folders only, so it has to always process a complete folder whenever a change has occurred. Therefore, the deletions are configured using the SmartTracking operating mode and the "Configure" button for SmartTracking.

On Windows, there are separate delete-notifications and so the real-time dialog offers an option for these.

"Real time sync" does not read the changes in the Host (ie PC#01), only read changes in the guest computers, is this normal?

Between some operating systems, the real-time notifications are not sent over the network. You can try setting up the sync on the host rather than the guest or vice versa. However I believe that real-time notifications are never sent between Macs and PCs. So you need to scheduler a regular full sync instead.
