timestamps on ftp and Webdav

Postby itc on Sat Jan 28, 2012 7:17 pm

Hi!

I am trying to get SFFS to work bidirectional (Smarttracking) with an online storage that I use for many of my clients.
When I copy file in Windows 7 explorer timestamps for the files look just fine. (via webdav)

When copied with SFFS it sets the date of the upload as the created/modified date/time
The problem is the same wether I use webdav or ftp.

I know the solutions with setting timestamps and also with the "detect if files have been changed"
This can work for the modfied date but the "created date" is still the date uploaded to the server.

Now I have a new client and for them this is a problem.
They need to keep both the created date/last changed date and time intact.

Is tihis possible?
Is there a way to keep at least the "last modified date" instact?

I think Windows Explorer may have the dates in its cache, but when viewed from another machine or a few days later, they are probably lost.

With most servers, the creation date cannot be preserved via WebDAV or FTP using our software.

However if you are sure that Explorer can save it, I can probably make it possible too. Which online storage provider are you using?

Some customers access WebDAV storage like this:

With this path, you would not use the Internet dialog in our software. The WebDAV protocol would be handled by Windows instead.

Hi,

I use Storegate in Sweden. www.storegate.com

I did some further testing and when I upload a file in Wondows 7 explorer it does keep the "last changed date"
I can see that datew both connected with my mac and by logging in to my webstorage throught their website.

If I would use the other path you suggested how would that look fo me.
Right now it looks like this: https://webdav1.storegate.com/user/

Version 5.65 now supports keeping the files' timestamps via WebDAV with this type of server (Microsoft IIS/7).
