Sync Offline Folders?

Postby chrigelhodel on Mon Apr 02, 2012 7:37 am

Hello

Is there a way to sync offline folders? My user folder (Windows 7) contains several offline folders (i.e Desktop, Documents, Favorites, etc.). I'd like to include them also in the backup set.

Regards

I have no idea ...

Maybe you need to create separate jobs for them, or find out their true location and sync that ...

Creating a second job with UNC names works, but is very slow... (and a bit cumbersome) I was hoping SFFS could get those offline folders via Windows API and benefit from the offline cache.

Well, what happens when you use the program to back up for example

C:\Users\Tobias\Favorites

?

It resolves the offline folder immediately to the UNC name: \\sg1005z-v1\Tobias$\Favorites

Selecting C:\Users\Tobias does not show the offline folders in the SFFS specific subfolder "select files and folders" dialog. They are only visible when selecting the left directory.

I see! And when you back up C:\Users\Tobias completely, it doesn't see the contents of the Favorites, does it?

It even doesn't see the folder "Favorites". Those offline folders are only visible in the native windows explorer dialog. Maybe there is a different API to get all folders, special folders included?

I don't know, but maybe I can do something in a future version.
