Unicode characters in filenames?

Postby RadicalDad on Wed Apr 18, 2012 1:36 am

Using SFFS to sync between Windows 7 and a Synology *nix based NAS. Using SFFS version 5.54a (hey, it works, why upgrade and test all over again?). I would like to use non-Latin Unicode characters, specifically Hebrew, in filenames. As a test I saved a Word document to the computer hard drive with mixed English and Hebrew characters in the file name. Seems to have synchronized to the NAS just fine. I want to be sure this is really supported and this success isn't just a fluke. Don't want to find a totally hosed MFT one morning because I didn't fully check out this issue.

Thanks,

Yes Unicode is fully supported. When using Windows networking (aka CIFS/SMB), it will work out of the box. However if you work with FTP or other Internet Protocols, you may have to choose the character set on the Internet/FTP dialog.
