Super Flex sync cannot copy ACL

Postby forlop on Wed Apr 25, 2012 8:25 am

Hi,

I must have missed something, but with my new installed version 5.21b, I dont seem to be able to copy ACL/NTFS permissions to destination folder. all I get is the default inherit permission. I have enabled "process security and shares...", ticked everything. source and destination folders are in the correct \\server\share format. just simple copy. I specifically assigned to run job as my domain admin account. But in the log I get "A required privilege is not held by the client..." what I have missed here? Which client does it mean? Have tried all types of job mode with the same result.

Please help!

thanks.

I think you need to try the latest version 5.70.

Thanks.

now I have installed 5.70 and it seems to work. However, there is another issue. I am making a simple copy from server A to server B, and I wish to preserve ACL from server A. the problem is, as admin I do not automatically have write access to some of the folders/files on server A. this is due to security. say folder A1 on server A, with subfolder A11, and files under, all of which I dont have write access. now if I run SF to copy to server B, how can I make copy of A1, A11 and files, without I have to give myself full write access on server A. this is because if I maintain the ACL from server A, I do not have write access on server B, under folder A1, such that I cannot make SF to create A11, and files under.

I hope I have made myself clear. Please help!

There is one option on the File Access tab sheet, but it may not be sufficient. It's called "Take Administrative Ownership Temporarily If Needed To Replace (Update) Files".

If this is not sufficient, I believe that the only immediate solution is to create separate jobs for these folders and let the owner type his credentials in the profile under "Run As User" on the Job tab sheet.

hi forlop,

I have exactly the same problem like you. I was trying to backup (exact mirroring) a w2003 Server to a w2008 system. Left path is unc as well as the right path too, take ownership if necessary is enabled and copying of acls too.

Version of Superflex is 5.71

Do you have any idea ?
