Real Time Monitoring runs every 5-30 seconds

Postby Dragon76 on Thu Aug 02, 2012 12:26 am

Hi,

I've been using a trial of Syncovery, and am quite happy with the features. I intend on purchasing the full version very soon, however, I have run across an issue that I need some help with.

I have several synchronisation tasks set up and running that use the Real Time/Monitoring feature, and this works well, for the most part. I've just added a new monitoring task to sync in real time, however, it keeps being rescheduled to run a few times a minute (somewhere between every 5 and 30 seconds).

I cannot figure out why this is happening for this one task, as all my others run just fine, and the settings are the same for all the other tasks.

Any help would be appreciated. Screenshots attached. Running on Windows Server 2008 R2.

Probably some application is indeed making changes all the time. You can specify a minumum pause between actions, or just switch to a regular sync every X minutes.

To find out exactly which files are changed all the time, go to the Real-Time Settings dialog, and change it to "Process Each File Event Individually". Then you can take a look at the log files and you will see an list of the actual events that occurred.

Thanks for the reply. I think I may have found a bug.

I have selected three sub-folders to sync, and the reason the sync task runs all the time is because there are changes in a folder that has not been selected.

For example, imaging the following structure:
\root\
\root\images\
\root\styles\
\root\scripts\
\root\logs\

I have selected images, styles and scripts to be synced. The reason the task constantly is because there are log files being written to \logs\.

I can understand why this happens... because I am running the task from the \root\ folder, so it's monitoring all the subfolders for changes, even though I am only syncing a few sub-folders. I realise I could set this up as three separate tasks to monitor the images, scripts and styles folders separately, but I wanted to do it from a single task.

Thanks again for the info, and please let me know if I am missing something.

That is normal. You have to create jobs for each subfolder to avoid this.
