error

Postby McBain on Mon Sep 24, 2012 10:39 am

They just installed SFFS 5.72 a few weeks ago and since setting it up it errors out my computer frequently. I started out trying to back up 45G but it couldn't seem to do this. I then broke that up data into 16 sections and created a separate job for each section which didn't resolve the problem. I then manually copied a big chucnk of the files over and tried again. This eventually did work but it errors out the computed four to five times a day. The jobs are set up to run once a day spaced out throughout the day. Would reducing the number of processors it uses to run make it more stable? Are there any other recommendations? TIA

What kind of errors do you get? What do they look like? Are they blue screens?

That means you have some faulty drivers, or a hardware defect. Sorry for the bad news but the software is basically stress testing your system by copying at high speed.

If you can't find the fault, you may be able to work around it with these hints:
- try to avoid USB hard disks and use local ones instead, or eSATA wires.
- try to avoid WLAN and use an Ethernet wire instead ...

Cheers,
Tobias
