Volume shadows don't take up much space. Please use them.

Choose Volume Shadowing: "Use For All, Create Shadow Before Building File List".

It is the only way.

If you find that your server can't handle it, you need to upgrade it (newer OS, better hardware).

Volume shadows are a piece of cake for recent Windows versions, but not quite so for Windows XP. Server 2003 may have some quirks too, but already better than XP.
