Partial File Updateing

Postby RBelile on Wed Dec 12, 2012 2:04 pm

The partial file backup is not working for me. I have it set up with Syncovery remote service on the right hand side. I am using Filezilla FTP server. This is the computer the file is located on. (remote computer) I want to copy a large file from the remote computer to my computer (local). I ca run the backup and I can see the commands being sent to the Remote service I can watch the $SYNCOVERY files being written and deleted. But it still takes over an hour to download the file. I can make a 16kb change to the file and it still copies the whole file. I just bought it yesterday with no ability to test the Partial file copy. This is of course the only reason I am interested in this software. I used to use PCAnywhere for the smart copy but since they got hacked I wanted another option. I have use partial file updating and right side uses remote service checked on the local side. Am I missing something or did I misunderstand how this software is supposed to work?

The FTP protocol does not support partial file copying.

You need to use SSH for that.

Is the SFTP in filezilla not the same as SSH? Do you have an SSH server you would recommend for this situation?

Hello,

can you send a log file where I can see the complete transfer to support@superflexible.com? That way I can check if you are using SSH and the logs also contain the reasons for complete copying.

You can get to the log folder by choosing the File menu and then "Show Log Folder".
