Real Time Settings "Folder Mode"

Is folder mode as reliable as file mode for real time settings. I noticed that folder mode is WAY faster than file mode but I'm worried about missing data when I do my cut-over. When I use file mode there is no way to keep my data in sync. I builds list for 5 days.
