Overwrite previous data

Postby sfloors on Wed Jan 22, 2014 2:24 pm

Hello,
I'm am setting up a backup server. At the end of each day my main server backups to a directory C:\FMbackupDaily. Inside this folder a new folder is created based on the backup date. Ie (FMbackupDaily\FMbackupdaily_2014-01-21_2240. My goal would be to backup to the same remote directory every day overwriting the previous days data. Right now the backup keeps the existing folder structure and just adds a new folder to my remote server. Is there any way to do this?

Thanks for any help

Yes, on the Folders settings category, you can choose "Flat Right Side".

Thanks for the reply. I've tried selecting Flat Right Side under folders in advanced settings, but I'm still getting the folder structure copied over. Any ideas? Thanks

Could be that this doesn't work with the ZIP Package feature. You need to uncheck that. You can zip files individually though.

Thanks, that seems to solve it. If I zip the files individually, is it possible to have them unzip when the reach the destination?

You could run a Syncovery job to do the unzipping; any job that copies from right-hand side to left-hand side will unzip. However it would have to go to a different folder. So maybe you'll need a second job to move the files back to the original folder.

But I will check if I can fix the problem where Flat Right Side does not work with Zip Packages.

Hello,

the new version 6.49 implements the option "Flat Right Side" in conjunction with ZIP Packages and the Syncovery Remote Service used for unzipping.
