Re: Not able to rsync to remote NAS

I started to run the largest mirror action (1,3TB) yesterday at 10:00 and it is still running (just about halfway)
I copy first batch locally before I put the NAS on the remote location and I only have to add/remove the changes.
(ETA is 20:04:20). Is that still 20 hours to run, or 8 o'clock PM ?

When I put the NAS on the remote location I have to change the IP address of the NAS, but also have to change that in the profiles. Will this work or does Syncovery not understand this and start all over?

Furthermore when I do a similar full copy (same amount of data) here locally from the same location to another local storage (via the same 1Gbit line) it take us about 16 hours. Is it correct that copying data with Syncovery take more time due to the administration so that a later mirroring of files will be faster?

It means 20 hours.

Yes you can change IP etc., Syncovery will see the files.

Administration should not slow it down, unless you are using Partial File Updating. Every software copies differently, so every software will have a different speed. Sometimes Syncovery is faster than Explorer, sometimes it may be slower.

It is also related to the number of files copied in parallel, which you specify on the Files tab sheet in the profile.

I know the effect of parallel downloading when using Usenet (higher download speeds are possible), but copying files simultaneously on a windows machine mostly will increase the total time needed.

At the moment I see three files being copied simultaneously, I think is a default setting, I did not change this setting. Have to experiment with the effect if I increase/decrease that number.

Just to come back on the SSH/SFTP way of mirroring data. SFTP can do block copying, but does the use of SSH not slow copying due to the encrypted way of copying?
In my situation I don't need the encryption since I have setup a secure tunnel to the remote location via VPN.

As long as it doesn't slow down the mirroring its fine by my ;-)

And if the data is already copied and I change protocol afterwards, can Syncovery handle that?

The encryption itself doesn't normally slow it down. It depends on what the bottleneck is. Normally it's the Internet connection. Everything else is faster.

Yes you can change protocols freely.
