Hi,
had two ideas to improve the Synchronization Prompt dialog:
1) It could save a lot of time while debugging and optimizing sync profiles if you would add an option in the prompt to add a file in conflict to the exclude mask.
Why not make a fourth button next to "copy l->r", "copy r->l" and "prompt again" called "add this file to profiles exclude list" which, when I click it, should just add exactly that one file to the exclude mask so it's not synced again.
Would be great for all those /.DS store and /.database/Nlock files I always forget to exclude;-)
Even nicer would be to also add the option to add the whole folder like "add the folder containing this file to the exclude mask". With this feature, I could just carelessly create my profiles and on the first few runs I'd then exclude the folders when I get prompts like:
/caches
/caches/cache3789hjoi83zuw9dhsjdiz892eh.cache
or
/Backups
/2010-04-27.bak
Of course I can do all that stuff manually as it is now but that means writing down the path, entering settings, opening exclude list tab, writing the new line and then hoping that I didn't mistype and waiting for the next cache to be updated and it could just be so easy if the prompt would do it for me;-)
2) It would be great it it could actually display the sync that is in conflict directly in the prompt and show me which directories it's talking about. I have "left" and "right" in all syncs so if I don't recognize the file in conflict, it's a lucky guess at best. Why not show the directory names? I know it opens another window that shows these but that window is hidden behind the prompt so I have to move it away first and sometimes it even comes up in another space so I have to search it first...
All the best,
V
