Request for supporting uploads to MEGA

Postby kiddailey on Tue Jan 22, 2013 4:56 pm

I realize it's really early to be asking this, but I've been watching the MEGAUpload/MEGA story for some time now and have been playing around with the new MEGA for a few days. Technical and legal issues aside, it's great, and it seems like it might be a good fit with Syncovery. Potentially it could also be a bonus if MEGA decides to publish a list of 3rd-party tools that interface with their service.

In my case, I use Syncovery to synch a master server to two other mirrors and in all likelihood will be adding MEGA to my list of mirrors. It would be awesome to be able to have Syncovery manage it for me.

Are there any plans to support uploads to the new MEGA service? If not, please consider this a request to add it :)

All of the client-side code behind MEGA is in human-readable form and available to examine. Some is open source, and early information about the MEGA API is located here: https://mega.co.nz/#developers

Thanks!

I will consider it, but it will take time. I want to add other more established services first.

FYI: It's a work-in-progress, but an individual on GitHub has put together a small Python library illustrating use of the MEGA API:

Posting this hear since it's somewhat relevant and may be helpful to those like myself who are thinking about "rolling their own" until Syncovery hopefully supports MEGA :)

FYI: The MEGA team recently officially released their C++ software development kit and updated the documentation. You need an account and to agree to terms of service to view or download it, but it can be obtained at:

https://mega.co.nz/#developers

They also announced a separate affiliate program where you can offer users to upgrade to paid MEGA plans within your app or website and receive commission:

https://mega.co.nz/#affiliates

I'm still hoping that Syncovery will support MEGA :)

Don't mean to be a pest, but I figure since it's been over a year since my original post ... and MEGA is now in roughly the top 600 sites on the internet (according to Alexa anyway), that there's no harm in asking if there's been any change in status on adding support for it into the software :D

I've been testing out the MEGA synch client in the meantime. It works, but it's no Syncovery ;)

Also worth noting that the MEGA SDK and info has been improved since I first posted about it above.

We tried the MEGA development kit a while back, but it was not feasible to integrate it in our development environment. I will have our cloud developer take another look when he finds the time.

Hello,
the new versions for Windows and Linux now support MEGA and Backblaze B2. Mac will follow very soon.
