Suggested notification improvement

Postby lghmed on Mon Nov 24, 2014 3:18 pm

Currently error (or success) reports can be configured in general on the Notify tab of Program Settings menu. Functionality could be improved if each profile instead had its own Notify tab and could trigger specific email addresses just for that profile. This would be helpful for users that have a large number of profiles of varied importance.

Hmm, I just noticed their is new email functionality in the V7 patch notes so maybe this is irrelevant.

Hello,
thanks! You will find a checkmark called "Override Email Settings" on the Job tab sheet in each profile. A separate dialog will pop up with the settings you need.

This is not a V7-specific improvement. Syncovery 7 adds Email as storage for files, and it can receive files via email. That's something else :)

Cheers,
Tobias

I have been using the email notification successfully. Now I started testing actually trying to send files by email in a profile. This I can not get to work. I am wondering why the email settings on this screen do not have the same options as on the notification screen. Specifically, I needed to check the "Explicit TLS" box in order for email notifications to work. There is no such setting on email profile screen. I don't know if that is the problem, but suspect it could be.

The profile is executed in attended mode.

The email module works a bit differently from the email notifications, so it does not have the TLS setting. I should use TLS automatically if you choose "Use SSL". We have tested this with Gmail and Office 365.
