SmartTracking and deletions

Postby gcosta on Fri Jan 16, 2015 10:37 am

Hello,

I am testing Syncovery and I am having a problem configuring a profile.
I want to mirror a local directory to a mapped network drive (in fact, it is mapped to my OneDrive storage).
If a new file appears locally, I want this file to be copied to my storage. This works perfectly.

If a file is locally deleted, I want this file to be deleted from my storage. This is not working and this is my problem!

Because of OneDrive, timestamps are not preserved during the copy so I am using "SmartTracking" instead of "Exact Mirror".

Can you help me?

Best Regards,
Guillaume

Here are some of my configuration:

Hello,

you should use Exact Mirror, and click the Configure button and deselect "Overwrite newer files with older ones".

SmartTracking could also work but is unnecessarily complex. You can anaylze its logic by looking at the log files. You can also turn on SmartTracking Details on the Logs tab sheet of the Program Settings dialog. But in this case Exact Mirror is the way to go.

Hello,

Thank you for your answer. My profile works with Exact Mirror now.

I won't know what was the probleme with SmartTracking but it doesn't matter.
Just for information the detailed lod says:
Code: Select all
File \11\001.jpg
Lexists=FALSE Rexists=TRUE, Lexistchanged=FALSE Rexistchanged=FALSE, CopyMode now:cmUndetermined

Thank you again

It didn't recognize a change in existence of the file on the left-hand side. SmartTracking can only detect deleted files if it has the file in its database (because it has seen it previously), and then the file is no longer there, so the existence has changed from the previous time the job has run.

Hello,

Now, it's working with Exact Mirror.
Actually, there is still a thing that I can't do:
If for any reason the right file is smaller than the left file (previous broken upload), then the left file is not copied.
How can I do in order that Syncovery detects different sizes?

Regards,
Guillaume

The problem is that the destination file has a newer timestamp. You should delete it.

To avoid broken copies in the future, choose the Auto-Resume feature from the Files tab sheet. It will copy files with a temporary filename until they are complete. Such temporary filenames can be recognized and resumed properly.
