Folder for deleted files is not valid

Postby M_Meyer on Mon Jan 04, 2016 1:34 pm

Today I removed the right hand path for deleted files from several profiles to save cloud space.
This seems to be okay - in the "Folders for deleted files" dialog, I saw "To use the folder only on one side, leave the field for the other side empty."

Unfortunately, now I get "The folder for deleted files is not valid for the right hand side" and files are not deleted.

Internet protocol is WebDAV, library 1.
I am using 6.35b of Syncovery.
What can be wrong?

You can only leave it empty if the profile is set in such a way that it would never delete any files from that side anyway. So, you cannot leave it empty in order to save space.

However, more recent versions of Syncovery are more tolerant against leaving this empty. You should update to the newest version you can get with your license, so at least to version 6.74.

Thanks for the quick reply.
I have now updated to 7.36b, but the problem persists.

It is not a problem, it is by design. Sorry. You cannot leave the field empty in order to save space.

Okay, understood.
Maybe you should remove or clarify the hint
"To use the folder only on one side, leave the field for the other side empty."
in the "Folders for deleted files" dialog then to avoid future misunderstandings.

I am receiving the same message, but in different situation.

I have one profile, where I sync my HDD1 with external HDD2. Syncovery sync those drives whenever the external drive is connected. "Folders for Deleted Files" are specified and are the same! One folder (on HDD1) for deletions from both drives. It works well.

I have another profile where I sync folder from HDD1 with folder connected via SFTP. There the previous example with shared "deletions folder" does not work! I am getting "Folder for deleted files is not valid for online side...". Why? I do not want any deletions folder on the online side, I want to use only one folder (on HDD1) for both sides. Can you tell me, what is wrong, please?

I use Syncovery 6.73.

It is not possible. The folder for deleted files on the SFTP side must be on the SFTP server and specified like this:
/Deleted

Otherwise Syncovery would have to download deleted files from SFTP to store them locally. That does not seem to be reasonable and has not been implemented.
