Large Files fail to Amazon Cloud Drive

Postby nynate on Mon Mar 21, 2016 3:35 pm

I've been testing Syncovery very successfully, doing backups from a WIndows Server to Amazon Cloud Drive.

Files greater than 14GB in size seem to fail though. The backup of the file to Cloud Drive seems to occur but then it just gets stuck at 99% and leaves a full size ******}_$syncovery file in it wake. At times it appears to auto re-try the upload leaving another ***}_$syncoveryfile in the folder. If I cancel the backup and re-run the job it auto deletes/cleans up the ***}_$syncovery files and starts the whole failed process again.

Is there an issue with large files to Amazon Cloud Drive?

If I use the awful Amazon Cloud Drive desktop client it uploads the large file successfully. Files 12GB and smaller appear to have no issues.

Files of this size result in an error message from the Amazon Cloud Drive API, even if the upload is successful. Amazon Cloud Drive does not have a special API for large files yet. There is no documented limit, but extremely large files result in errors.

I will look into whether such errors could be ignored and the file upload be checked.

However the best solution will be to use the new file splitting feature in Syncovery 7.46. On the Internet dialog, you can specify the size into which to split files. This will be done at no cost - no delays, no temporary files. Split files will automatically be reassembled upon download.
