Deletions disabled by acces problem

Postby Relatics on Tue May 31, 2016 7:03 am

I want to synchronize left and right side as an exact mirror scheduled by real time synchronization. Only errors should be send by mail.

Several times a day i get some error mails caused by acces errors on the left side. But the mail sais 'deletions disabled see log file'. How to fix these errors so i don't get these error mails.

Log sais:

\\@@\r$\Relatics\WEB55\Log\2016\05_31_Activity.log will be retried after creating a shadow volume snapshot. (4)

Could not use volume shadow copying for \\@@\r$, error: Volume Shadowing is only supported for local hard drives

Errors / Access problems with 1 File(s):
\\host13\r$\Relatics\WEB55\Log\2016\05_31_Activity.log (5:Access is denied.)

Mail sais:

Short Results: 17 copied (17.1MB), deletions disabled: see log file

WARNING: the profile was run with deletions disabled (see log file).

Anyone a idea how to fix this?

Hello,
the deletions disabled must be caused by something else, not the access problem. Please post the complete log file or send it to support@syncovery.com

Thanks. But this one does not have the deletions disabled problem. Can you find another one?

Hello,
this is not sufficient. You have to find a log file with "deletions disabled" in the result (and log file name), or wait till it happens again.

Yes, this is the correct one. Due to Syncovery copying files and folders which are heavily modified at the same time, this "deletions disabled" message is normal when running a profile in real-time. Due to real-time operation, it will run the profile many times, and I am sure the deletions will be carried out soon enough, because it does not disable them every time.

It may help to increase the real-time delay on the second tab sheet of the Real-Time Settings dialog.

Deletions disabled occurs if a folder or file has been marked for deletion, but then upon double-check, it's actually still there on the source side. This can occur depending on the types of modifications that occur in the source folders.

If you want to completely avoid this, you could go to the tab sheet "Access & Retries" -> "File Access" and choose:
Volume Shadowing: Use for All, create shadow before building the file list

However then you need to make sure that the job does not run so often, because creating a volume shadow causes some system load. You could either avoid real-time completely and schedule the job every 30 or 60 minutes, or you could increase the real-time delay on the second tab sheet of the Real-Time Settings dialog or specify a minimum pause between actions on the Monitoring tab sheet.
