FTPS...

Postby rpriest on Wed Jan 20, 2010 3:35 pm

I am still testing this to see if it fits our company's needs, but so far this is a very good application. I have spent the last day and a half researching and testing ways to shedule UL/DL via FTP, and this is by far the easiest (and cheapest!) solution. We don't need this for backup or sync, but just straight-forward scheduling of file transfers to and from various locations.

The one thing that I cannot seem to get working is FTPS (SSL - port 990). SFTP and FTP are spot on. In the features on your site it mentions FTPS is available, but I don't see it in the protocol drop-down when I am setting up a profile. I tried various combinations of settings, but could not get it to work. I installed 4.86a (Windows) which is listed as the current stable version. Is this a feature of 5.x, or I am just missing something?

Thanks,
rpriest

Hello,

thanks for your comments! For FTPS, you would select the FTP protocol, and then go to the Security tab sheet on the same dialog. Usually you just select "Explicit TSL" there, but since you mentioned port 990 it sounds more like implicit TSL. The other options can usually remain unchanged although sometimes you need to adjust the SSL version, for example some servers only allow SSL v3.

These FTP Security settings have been the same for several years, so you will find them in all version 4.x.

Best wishes,
