How to restore encrpyted files

Postby scrummie02 on Tue Oct 25, 2016 3:08 pm

I was looking for documentation on restoring encrypted zip files. When I just restore the files the names have been changed and don't come back. I encrypted the file names as well.

You could make a copy of your profile and just change the copying direction, or use the Restore Wizard.

If you want to try and create a restore profile from scratch, make sure you are using the copying direction "Right to Left", and make the same zipping and encryption settings that the backup job had.

I get an error that says Zips should only be used left to right and it still only restores the zip files, not the contents of the zip files.

Apparently you are using the checkmark "Use ZIP Packages (many files per ZIP archive)."

Yes you need to remove that from the restore profile, and instead choose "Unzip all ZIP files which are copied to the destination".

On the Encryption tab sheet, you need to make the same settings as in the original job.

You must copy from right to left.
