Profile is trying to delete synced content from another...

Postby bitfidelity on Sun Jan 08, 2017 10:48 pm

I have two profiles. One is for everything on drive E, another for everything on drive V. Both are set to back up to the same folder on Amazon Cloud Drive.

When I try to sync the profile for drive V, it is listing content that belongs to drive E, an entirely different profile, for deletion. I have no idea why this is happening, since the content it is trying to delete is on an entirely different profile and drive.

Any ideas? I tried deleting the profile, but that didn't help since everything is apparently cached.

Different drives must back up to a different folder on Amazon Drive. You cannot sync two storages that contain different data with the same folder.

Please move the data to separate folders on Amazon and change your profiles accordingly.

Also install the latest version 7.69c, because earlier versions may have problems with moved folders on Amazon Drive.

I see.

Do you have any advice on how to best move my files, which all have encrypted names? I've found that moving files using Syncovery takes forever because it is copying every file again instead of just moving them. If I move files using the Amazon Drive web client, it is pretty much instant, but the problem is that I have no idea what folder/file is since I encrypted everything.

I guess what would help is if there was a way to see what the encrypted filename is for a folder in Syncovery.

Welp. So I moved everything on drive V to a folder named V. The folders and files should match, but Syncovery wants to upload (copy) everything all over again...

Do you have 7.69c? Can you delete everything in C:\ProgramData\Syncovery\Database, so that Syncovery gets a completely fresh folder listing from Amazon Drive?

You can use the Browse button in the profile to browse the hierarchy in unencrypted form. That way you can see the folders which are in the base folder that you selected and you can see if they are the correct ones.

If you think everything is correct, please try removing the checkmark "Use Recursive Listing" on the second tab sheet of the Internet dialog. That will cause a more direct listing method to be used.

You could also create a restore profile that copies from "right to left", from your cloud folder to an empty folder on your hard drive, which would then show you what Syncovery sees as existing on the cloud side. You can create this by duplicating your existing profile, or using the Restore Wizard.

Finally, you can get an HTML listing that contains both encrypted and unencrypted file names using the checkmark "Output left/right file listing" on the Logs tab sheet of the Program Settings dialog. The listing files will be in the logs folder.

So it turns out I did NOT read your initial post as well as I should. I upgraded to the latest version, and everything is acknowledged correctly now.

The HTML listing tip is also helpful. It seems to be the only real way to directly compare the folder and its encrypted name, as browsing the path would merely show you the unencrypted versions. It'd be cool if there was an option to view the encrypted name after right-clicking on a folder, but I don't think there is any real demand for a feature like that.
