Synthetic Backup , renamed files, 400kB threshold

Postby crash on Sun Nov 19, 2017 11:26 pm

Hi there,

Just got the family license. Very impressed with all the options so far. :D

I am a bit confused about this message in attended mode:
Synthetic Backup does not support the detection of renamed files

Does this mean that in Synthetic Backup mode, ZERO renaming is possible?
Asking because in the Docs, I see that Synthetic Backup only looks at files over 400KB.

So, for smaller files (e.g. 3kB), does Synthetic Backup mode in fact allow renames?

Thanks in advance for clarifying.

Hello,
if you use Synthetic Backup, you need to turn off the option "Detect Renamed Files".

Yes theoretically it could work for smaller files, but this distinction has not been implemented. So for now, you have to turn it off. For smaller files, it doesn't really matter if they are deleted and re-copied rather than renamed.
