File Deletions Not Propagating

Postby wcrisman on Mon Jun 14, 2010 1:15 am

I am using the latest beta to synchronize two equal sized hard drives on two computers. I am using bi-directional synchronization using smart tracking, real time synchronization and scheduled to run every 10 minutes (an attempt to avoid the following problem), and permanent delete + recycle bin.

The problem I am having is that I when I delete a file on the computer with the software installed it doesn't get deleted on the remote computer's drive until I manually synchronize. Neither the real time synchronization, nor the scheduled synchronization are applying the deleted file. Cleaning out my recycle bin has no affect on the problem.

Other than the one problem the software is working great for my purpose.

Usually these are the causes:

a) for real-time, you need to go back to the Real-Time Synchronization dialog box a it has its own settings for deletions. You need to turn on deletions there and maybe set the safety delay to 0.

b) for scheduled runs, you need to go to the tab sheet Safety->Unattended and make sure that the top four checkboxes are checked and the last one is unchecked.

If problems remain, they can be analyzed by looking at the log files.

I did not realize that checking (or rather re-checking) the real-time box would bring up a dialog!

After turning on the deletions it is now working perfectly.

I love the software and will be buying a license. Please consider making the UI a bit more intuitive though. My suggestion: placing [setup] buttons to the right of the relevant check boxes, or convert the check box text into a hyperlink.

All checkboxes whose labels end with ... trigger dialogs.
