Real Time Monitoring - not all changes 'noticed'

Postby dmcconachie on Thu Jul 29, 2010 10:23 am

I'm testing SFFS to see if it will suit my needs but I've run into a strange circumstance. On 2 separate occasions (so far) when I changed some of the files on the right side of the sync (on the other side of a VPN tunnel) the changes did not get 'noticed' and replicated back to the left side immediately. In one case it took about 40 minutes, in the other it took over 3 hours. according to this post this has something to do with the Windows API. The suggested solution was to schedule a regular sync every few hours or so to catch these types of things. However when I try to set a scheduled run time on the job (run once every hour in particular) I get an error message: "You have chosen two scheduling options that cannot be combined. Please remove the checkmarks on the Monitoring tab sheet or on the Schedule tab sheet." I don't want to create a separate profile to run every hour as the real-time sync has dire warnings about running more than one profile on the same set of folders.

Hello,

yes over VPN is very likely that some items may be missed. If you install the latest version 5.06 or even 4.97, then you will be able to combine Real-Time with an hourly schedule in the same profile.

Under 'Help->About' it reads v5.06 build 76. I tried again to setup both the 'Scheduling' and 'Monitoring / Real-Time Sync' tabs at the same time but still got the same error message.

Hi,

you need to uncheck "Run profiles as soon as the drives or volumes involved become available". Then you can combine Real-time with regular scheduling.
