Also Amazon is much faster and has a cleaner, more reliable API than Google. Google's API is really designed for sharing documents, and is barely suitable for general storage.

OK, I believe you, although I do not have experience with S3. You brought me to the idea, which solves my situation. I will do backup one time (or time to time, few times a year) manually to classical Google Docs (the price list is much more friendly), and daily and/or monthly backup to Amazon S3 via SFFS, as you recommend.

You can now upload "any file" to Google Docs!

Hello,

Apparently Google has removed a limitation and it is now possible for all Google customers to upload "any file" to Google Docs. If you would like to try it, make sure you have the latest version 5.x or 6 (beta) from our web site.

Up until at least mid-2011, our Synchronizer could only upload converted files unless the customer had a Google Apps Premier account. Now this problem is completely gone.

That is really great news I think!

Cheers,
Tobias
