Choosing which version of backed up file to restore

Postby birney on Sun Sep 05, 2010 3:00 pm

When choosing which backed up version of a file to restore, is there a way to view when the backups were made, or does SFFS just restore from the backup that was made closest to the date chosen on the Filters tab of the Restore Wizard?

Thanks.

It will automatically choose the file version that is the same or older than the specified date.

But you can also choose the version interactively for each file. To do that, it's best not to specify a target date on the Restore Wizard. Instead, wait for the list of available files to appear and right-click the file you want. If several versions are available, you will see a menu item called "Right-side alternate versions" and there you can choose the one you need.

All of this is available only when "Filename Encoding" is used and all file versions are in the same backup folder. Synthetic Backup automatically includes filename encoding.
