how can I exclude certain files from backup?

Postby flugmaus on Mon Feb 08, 2010 8:38 am

Hello,

I would like to configure my Backup profile, so it does not backup certain files/file extentions (e.g. files containing the string "_notes").
Is this possible? If yes, how does it work?

I´m using SuperFlexible File Synchronizer v4.64 build 256 on Mac.

Thanks in advance.

Hello,

in profile (job), you can specify File Masks. There are both inclusion and exclusion masks. In you example, you can use

*_notes*

as Exclusion Masks. The asterisk is a wildcard and stands for any other characters. If the Exclusion Mask field currently contains "(none)", you can remove that and replace it with your mask. If you have several masks, you can combine them with a semicolon. In Advanced Mode, the field is bigger, so you can also type masks on separate lines (separated with Enter).

For example:

*_notes_*;*.bak;.DS_Store

The last one above simply excludes all .DS_Store files. So an exclusion does not have to contain a wildcard.
