Partial File Updating

Postby itrinium on Thu Oct 28, 2010 3:55 pm

Hi

What would be the best way to use partial file updating in the following scenario:

I have a 20GB folder ccntaining SQL\Log files and in the first intance I am able to copy the files directly to the backup site (destination) via a USB Drive for speed.

What would be the best settings for SFFS to use partial file updating over the slow broadband connection take into consideration all the files are already in place.

I am using SSH (SFTP) and have full dektop access to the destination windows server.

Hope the above makes sense.

Many thanks

Hi,

if the files will be unchanged between the seeding copy and the first SSH sync, then you don't need any special settings because the program will simply recognize the files upon the first run and build its database accordingly. Only files that have changed before the first run via SSH would have to be reuploaded completely.

Best,

Tobias
