problem with uploading to Amazon S3 singapore bucket

Postby nickfan on Fri Aug 19, 2011 1:53 pm

when I do a sync with my singapore bucket, SFFS will always pause after more than ~20-30MB of file transfer. Even if I click "pause" and "continue", it will not resume the file transfer. I need to cancel the sync and run the profile again to continue sync. I need to do this many times for a transfer over 300MB. I tried the S3 USA bucket without any issue. More than 300MB file transfer without a pause or disconnection. However, the speed is much slower than singapore bucket. I am in Hong Kong.
Is there anything that can be done to solve the issue?
BTW, if I use Amazon console to upload files. I have no issue.

thx a lot in advance.

You can try turning SSL on or off on the Security tab sheet of the Internet dialog.

Maybe some router or your ISP doesn't like the upload speed, you can try to reduce it by specifying a speed limit on the tab sheet Files->More.

Thx for your reply. I encrypt my files with AES 256. Maybe I can turn off SSL connection.
Will any one be able to get my access id and secret code by intercepting the connection without SSL?

The Access ID is not secret and it is sent in clear text.

The Secret Key, however, is not sent at all - not even in encrypted form.

Instead it is used to digitally sign the HTTP request.

This makes it very safe even without SSL.
