Restore job stuck at Preparation stage

Postby neildobson on Mon Nov 04, 2013 11:32 pm

Hi,

My restore job discussed here sometimes stalls at: Preparation, Step 1 of 3

The last time it was stuck for nearly 20 hours before I finally killed all processes. I was unable to stop the scheduler within the app itself.

The log is pretty much empty except the following:

Log for profile S3 (restore) MIRROR, started at 2:06:20 AM on 4/11/2013

LEFT: C:\temp
RIGHT: S3://my.bucket

Copying Direction : Right To Left
Exact Mirror Mode is being used.
The profile is executed by the scheduler in a separate thread.

Previous run was at 4/11/2013 1:56:19 AM:

As I mentioned this is all the log contains for over 20 hours of run-time.

Any ideas how to automatically cancel a job if it stalls?

Thanks.

We need more detailed logs.

Do you have "With Timing Info" as well a "Detailed" chosen on the Logs tab sheet of the Program Settings dialog?

You can make the logs even more detailed, if necessary.

Please add the following environment variable in Windows Control
Panel->System:

Name: SYNCOVERYDEBUG
Value: 1

Then the program will create more detailed logs and also checkpoint
files called TGCP*.log in the %TEMP% folder. These can be many files,
so you don't want to keep this option active for a long time. Only
until the first hang.

After changing this, you need to restart the scheduler or service.
Make sure that no SyncoveryService.exe process is running in Task
Manager and then start it.
