S3 Transfers Going Slowly

Postby rgorman on Fri Jul 20, 2012 1:26 pm

Hi Guys.

Here's the scoop: I sit on a 300Mbit/300Mbit pipe to the internet. I'm trying to sync somewhat largish files (3-50MB) up to S3 from a Windows 2008 Server running Super Flexible. The job caps out at about 250KB/s. I can run multiple S3 jobs simultaneously, each of which caps out somewhere between 250KB/s to 500KB/s. My expectation is that these jobs will run much more quickly.

Some more data:
* I can sync via SFFS to another server on the LAN at about 10MB/s.
* I can copy files manually to S3 (using another S3 tool on a different server) at 80MB/s.
* The speed limit for these jobs is 10000KB/s.

Anyone have any ideas? I'd love to get this tool using as much of the 300Mbit pipe as possible. Thank you in advance for any help you can offer.

Don't specify any speed limit.

Let it copy several files in parallel. The number is specified on the Files tab sheet in the profile.

Finally, if you don't need SSL, you could turn it off on the second tab sheet of the Internet/FTP dialog.

While these things may help I don't know the cause for the slowness. Maybe you should run it on a physical machine as opposed to a VM?
