Even if I look at the logs I'm not totally sure what I'm looking for. I will save them in another location so I can check them out closer later. I will stop the service and run the foreground scheduler tomorrow and see what happens.

Thanks for the replies.

Please send the logs to support@superflexible.com. Maybe I will see what's wrong. Unless they contain confidential info.

Thanks!

OK, so this morning I come out to look and it's in the slow mode again.

The syncronization process says "Checking database entry, file #2429 of 26088 (9.6%).

It has an elapsed time of 5:29:23.

The disk is in almost constant access mode.

I can send you the log file if you want but the most recent log is up to 12.5 MB. Let me know and I'll stop it and send the log. The modified time on the log file is 12:42AM this morning. The database file has the close to the current time so it has to have something to do with that.

EDIT:

The current time when I posted this was about 7:10AM if it matters.

Hello,

yes, I really need the log! Maybe you can zip it, then it will be small. Note that this version 5 is still in beta. I expect a stable release in about 2 months after many more tests with the new database engine.

Ok, here is the latest log file. There are more but maybe this is enough. If you want more let me know.

Well I tried to upload it twice and get this error

Could not upload attachment to ./files/102_0bafac23cfc9e68bf2aa43372829c0ea.

Let me know how to get you the file.

It is not using a lot of CPU time, just constant hard drive activity on drive c: which is where the log files and database are stored. If I look into the folders containg the logs and database I can see the time stamps updated often so it is doing something. The drive where the data is being mirrored to shows only the rare flash of the activiy lights.

I don't know what's going on but I need to find a way to speed this up. Should I break the profile into smaller pieces? That would make a lot more work and be much more proned to error on my part.

Just a suggestion : if you use http://www.itsth.com/en/produkte/Whats- ... -doing.php, does the HDD activity comes from SFFS or something else ? I guess you also tried to defrag your source and destination locations.

I didn't try that but there's nothing else running on the computer.

Defrag says that neither the system nor the data drives need defraged. Logs and database on mirrored drive C:. Data is on RAID 5 array drive D:. Drive C: is the one with all the disk activity. Since installing newer build much less disk activity.

I have version 5 build 16 installed now which seems to have solved the problem for the most part. It has been working fine since I installed that version but it did take 2 or 3 days to get into the slow mode before.

I am pretty confident the slowness is solved just by watching the way it is working since installing the newer build.

All in all, I'm positive that the problem was caused by Superflexible and that it's fixed. If anything changes I'll post again.

Sorry to insist, but there are so many things running on a Windows computer, and if you have Vista, it's overwhelming, even if nothing is visible.

When you mention "Defrag", are you referring to Windows Defrag ? If yes, try the excellent PuranDefrag, now free. It sorts folder on NTFS volumes and this can make a difference.
