Upgrading -- restarting server

Postby bmcgin on Fri Apr 11, 2014 10:54 am

Is there something you can do so that it is not necessary to reboot the server after the upgrade?

Yes, you can make sure that no Syncovery related processes are running. Then the installer will not ask for a reboot.

I just shutdown the windows service, then went to Help -> Check for Updates and it found one and asked if want to install it.

I said Yes, so it downloaded and installed the update and now I am warned that I need to reboot the server.

How am I supposed to completely shutdown Syncovery as it is doing the upgrade?

When you stop the service, additional processes may still be finishing the execution of profiles. In general, the updater is able to stop processes to avoid a reboot, but maybe not in all cases.

To be entirely sure, you need to look for processes with names starting with Syncovery in task manager and kill them.
