Conflicts caused by files and folders with the same name

Postby rossmcm on Thu Nov 17, 2011 1:11 am

Hi,

This might be a possible bug, but I had an unhappy experience with your website when I tried to send a message (first a server error when I clicked on submit, then when I entered all the information again and clicked on submit, an empty form was refreshed, and there was no indication whether it was successful or not).

Anyway, I have a backup plan to a box.net account (though I don't think that is relevant to this). The backup running in attended mode reports a few conflicts, and I notice that these conflicts are reported whenever there is a folder that contains a file with the same name as that folder - i.e if you have a folder called:

c:\MyFiles\Fred\

and a file (with no filetype) within the folder called:

c:\MyFiles\Fred\Fred

...I get a conflict between the file Fred on the left-hand side and the folder Fred on the right-hand side. This conflict was only reported after the backup had run once and the empty folder had been created on the right-hand side. The backup plan has encryption enabled, and is set to backup only files that have been modified in the last day.

Maybe there is a sensible explanation...?

Hi,

I will try it now. Bugs should be submitted via the email addresses from superflexible.com, not via the form on this web site.

It's caused by an inconsistency in the WebDAV listing from box.net, which sometimes uses http:// and sometimes https://. This weekend's updates to our software will fix the problem.

The new version 6 beta build 56 fixes this now, and a new version 5 will be released as well.

The compatibility fix has been included in today's update v5.60 as well.
